Design has always fascinated me, inspired me. I can see its expression in the pattern of my own life.
I experience the incredible balance and beauty of the human form every day as I push my limits in fitness and sport. Design is content and intent. I am always amazed by the breathtaking compositions and forms of nature every time I trek across the Himalayas. Design is aesthetics and semiotics. The rhythm and movement of undulating terrain is my adrenalin rush when I am cycling. Design is visceral and physical. There is a cadence to the Beatles song that I hum, a strategy to the field settings of my cricket team, a greater meaning to the connections of family and friends. Design is resonance and relevance. There are so many instances in my life where I seek structure to solve challenges, spot opportunities and tap deep into the subconscious. Design is intuitive and innovative. All this has refined my art, fired my imagination and informed my professional philosophy. Because I believe strongly that design must be the bedrock of every creative endeavour, without exception. And design must be set free to fly, to discover its true identity and live its own life in the world. Let's talk design! |
